Inquiry Oops!

Well the inquiry process has gone really well this term, I think. We did not get too caught up on the wondering stage and made a good effort on the finding out stage.

HOWEVER....

Where was the science? I feel that we have done some good social studies work but not a lot of science investigations for the science fair. I think this is going to be one of the main issues of inquiry as inquiry is very much a social studies slanted approach to learning.

What do you think?

  1. I agree. My class is in the same boat. Great inquiry wonderings but very social studies based. I love science and I want to get into fair testing. I think our Big Question was what lead it that way.

  2. Yes - the question or task is the most important aspect about Inquiry. But it takes time to get the hang of it and not every time you hit the nail on the head...

  3. I disagree :) Last term in the social studies based inquiry unit the kids and I struggled. This term we have had an awesome inquiry and learnt heaps about the inquiry process, since skills and thinking skills.
